Create a Sales Lead

Learn how to create a lead, assign managers, add referral and contact information, and get started with services.

Before you begin

To create leads, your role must have the Sales permission set to Manage. If you do not see the New Lead button, ask your administrator to check your role.

Create a lead

  1. Select Sales in the left navigation menu.

  2. Select New Lead in the upper-right corner.

  3. Enter the lead’s information. First Name and Last Name are required. You can also add a middle name, address, email, phone number, and alternate phone number.

Note: The address is optional. If you enter any part of it, you must complete Address Line 1, City, State, and ZIP Code.

  4. To assign managers, choose employees from the Primary Manager and Secondary Manager menus. Leads where you are the Primary Manager appear on your My Leads tab.

  5. Add information about how the lead was referred:

    • Choose a Referral Source Type.

    • Choose a Referral Source.

    • Add details in Referral Note, if needed.

If your agency has turned on Require a referral source, these fields are required.

If you choose a partner organization or person, they also appear on the lead’s Connections tab.

  6. If someone is asking about services for the lead, such as a family member, enter their information in the Contact section: First Name, Last Name, Relationship, Phone Number, and Email.

If you complete any contact field, you must enter the contact’s first and last name. This person is saved as the lead’s contact.

  7. Select Create Lead when you are finished.

What happens next

  • The lead’s profile opens. If your role does not allow you to open client profiles, you return to the Sales table instead.

  • The lead appears in the Sales table in the Opportunity stage, with the first status your agency has set up under Opportunity.

  • The lead has no services yet. Open the lead’s Services tab to add a service they are interested in. You change the stage and status for each service.

Tip: Before a lead can become a client, they need a complete address and a referral source if your agency requires one. You can add this information now or later in the lead’s profile.
